Case Report Acute Haemiplegia after Chickenpox Abstract Stroke in children, although uncommon, is increasingly recognised as an important clinical entity. The underlying cause of childhood stroke is largely different from stroke in adults. Varicella infection has been recognised as an important aetiological factor in childhood stroke. We report a Chinese girl who presented with acute haemiplegia with left middle cerebral artery infarct after a recent varicella infection.
