Case Report A Case of Early Neonatal Fulminant Liver Failure and Haemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis Abstract Both liver failure and haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis are rare conditions during the neonatal period. We report a case of fulminant neonatal liver failure that presented on the first day of life and was subsequently diagnosed to have haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). Work up for secondary causes was not revealing and our patient might represent a case of familial HLH although the more definitive genetic testing was not performed. To our knowledge, this is the youngest reported case of HLH in this locality. HLH should be considered in cases of perinatal liver failure.
