Editorial A Few Milestone Developments of the Journal CY Yeung The Editorial office has always been keen to enhance the dissemination of scientific information in the articles published in our Journal. In addition to the hard copies, free access to the Journal's Web-site has been made available to members of both the Hong Kong College of Paediatricians and the Hong Kong Paediatric Society since 2000. We are proud to report to our readers on a couple of very exciting developments which would render accessibility to a much wider readership. Through the contributions by many concerned parties, our Journal has now been accepted for listing in the EMBASE Indexing Services beginning this year. Henceforth researchers, authors and interested parties from other parts of the world will be able to retrieve articles and their abstracts which have appeared in the Journal with ease through searching the EMBASE Index. Works accomplished and published in our journal by local researchers and other authors will be readily quoted or utilised globally for various academic, professional and other related purposes. We are also particularly grateful to Johnson and Johnson Company for making a donation to support another new development -- an electronic-version which is a unique project of the Journal. This e-version will be another major development to provide free and universal accessibility of the full texts of all papers appearing in our Journal. This programme is in line with our objective of making our Journal available to readers who may experience financial difficulties to subscribe to the hard copies. Such move will probably be particularly welcome by some neighbouring communities in South East Asia. We anticipate that the e-version of our Journal will be in place by the middle of this year. To further strengthen our commitments to the international paediatric service, we have been very privileged to have been able to recruit several world renowned paediatricians and clinician-scientists to form a panel of "International Advisors" for the next three years. They are none other than Professor Sir Alan Craft, the President of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health of U.K., Professor Don Roberton, the President of the Paediatric section of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, Professor David Stevenson, the President of the American Pediatric Society, and Professor Yang Xi-Qiang, the Editor-in-Chief of the Chinese Journal of Pediatrics. They will provide us with their experience, wisdom and guidance to help advance the future development of our Journal. We look forward to receiving increasing number of high quality scientific articles from researchers to publish in our Journal. We also hope to enlist the continual and widening support from our readership for many years to come. CY Yeung
