Abstract

Gastrointestinal dysmotility is a common problem encountered in preterm infant due to immature control of the co-ordinated gastrointestinal movement. Various medications have been used to enhance the co-ordination and propulsive movement of gastrointestinal tract in preterm infants. However, evidence on the beneficial effects of these prokinetic agents is still conflicting and potential serious adverse effects had been reported. The usage of these prokinetic agents in preterm infant should therefore be cautious until further evidence on long term benefit and safety is available.

由於胃腸運動協調能力不成熟，胃腸動力紊亂是早產兒常見的問題。多種治療措施已用於增強早產兒胃腸的運動協調性和蠕動。然而，有關這些促動劑效果的證據仍存在矛盾，以及其潛在的嚴重副作用也見報導。故在取得有關促動劑遠期效果和安全性的證據之前，應慎用於早產兒。
